Female Dresscode
All students must adhere to the dress code to be admitted into class.
Preschool Girls (ages 3, 4, 5)
Dress:
Pale Pink footed tights, light pink leotard (must be Capezio CC400C, Body Wrappers Style #VL120, or Motionwear Style #2105.Skirts are NOT ALLOWED in class.)
Shoes:
- Motor Movement: *white canvas tennis shoes or white tumbling shoes (NO BALLET SHOES)
- Ballet: Pink ballet shoes
- Tap: Black tap shoes
- Tumbling: *white canvas tennis shoes or white gymnastic shoes
Beginning Level Girls (age 6 – up)
Dress:
Black leotard (must be Capezio CC400/CC400C, Body Wrappers Style #VL120 or Motionwear Style #2105) pale pink or flesh tone footed or convertible tights
Shoes:
- Ballet: pink ballet shoes if wearing pink tights, matching flesh tone if wearing flesh tone tights
- Tap: Black tap shoes (must be low heels, unless otherwise approved by instructor)
- Jazz: Black jazz shoes
- Tumbling: *White canvas tennis shoes with thin soles or white tumbling/gymnastic shoes
Intermediate Level Girls (age 8 – up, min. of 2 years dance experience) / Teen Girls
Dress:
Black leotard (must be Capezio CC400/CC400C, Body Wrappers Style #VL120 or Motionwear Style #2105) pale pink or flesh tone footed or convertible tights
Shoes/Additional Apparel:
- Ballet: pink ballet shoes if wearing pink tights, matching flesh tone if wearing flesh tone tights, BLACK Ballet Skirt (Mirella S12 or MS12A)
- Tap: Black Tap Shoes, black shorts OPTIONAL (Capezio TB113C/TB113)
- Tumbling: White tumbling/gymnastic shoes and black tumble shorts (Capezio TB113C or TB113-adult)
- Jazz: Black jazz shoes, black shorts OPTIONAL (Capezio TB113C/TB113)
Advanced Level Girls (minimum age 9 with minimum 3 years dance experience)
Dress:
True/Primary Red Leotard of your choice (any brand/cut/style), pale pink or flesh tone footed or convertible tights
Shoes:
- Ballet: Pink, split-sole, ballet shoes or flesh tone if choosing flesh tone tights(straps correctly attached), BLACK Ballet Skirt (Mirella S12 or MS12A)
- Tap: Oxford style black tap shoes (must be attached with screws, rubber metatarsal pads are not allowed) Leather Shoe with Leather Upper & Leather Bottom
- Jazz: Black, split sole jazz shoes
- Tap & Jazz: Also wear Dance Pants (Eurotard #44555c for child sizes, Eurotard #44555 adult sizes)
- Tumbling: White tumbling/gymnastic shoes. Plain black shorts (Capezio TB113C/TB113), in addition to leotard & tights
Advanced + Level Girls (minimum age 11 with 5 years dance experience)
Dress:
“Hunter” Green color leotard (Capezio #CC201), pale pink footed or convertible tights
Shoes:
- Refer to Level III requirements
- Jazz & Tap Students: Also wear Dance Pants (Eurotard #44555c for child sizes, Eurotard #44555 adult sizes)
- Ballet & Pointe Students: Ballet Skirt #S12, seafoam green
Hip Hop
Dress for girls:
GREY Hip Hop Studio Shirt and ANY plain black bottoms (shorts, leggings, sweatpants, etc.)
Dress for boys:
GREY Hip Hop Studio Shirt and ANY plain black bottoms (shorts, leggings, sweatpants, etc.)
Shoes:
STUDENTS may wear ANY style shoes, however, they must keep the shoes at The Studio, and they cannot have been worn outside. If students wish to purchase dance sneakers (as previous years) the style numbers are as follows. Capezio DS03 black dance sneaker, or Capezio DS11 black dance sneaker
Adult Students (age 18 and up)
Dress:
Must be comfortable and allow sufficient movement. Leotards and tights are preferred for women (dance pants or ballet skirts may also be worn), t-shirts and jazz pants or sweat pants are preferred for men.
Shoes:
- Ballet: Ballet shoes (preferably pink)
- Tap: Tap shoes (low heels are preferred) ABSOLUTELY no metatarsal pads allowed.
- Jazz: Jazz Shoes (Beginning jazz students may wear ballet shoes)
Please read the following. These are IMPORTANT things for all of our students and parents to be aware of!
Important Dress Code Notes for All Students
All dance shoes must be approved by the instructors before being worn in the dance area.
NO SHOES PURCHASED FROM TARGET, PAYLESS OR WALMART.
- Shoes and leotards may not have extra bows or ribbon bows added to them.
Dance shoes may not be worn outside the studio. This may cause damage to the floor, and will cause dance shoes to become gritty and slippery. - Tap shoes may not be a soft “jazz oxford” style and may not have metatarsal pads (rubber soles)
- Long hair must be pulled back off of face and neck. Ballet students who attend classes, which are Level II or higher, must have hair in a bun.
- Jewelry other than wedding rings and small earrings are not permitted.
Additional cover-ups (i.e., leg warmers, t-shirts, sweatshirts, ballet skirts, tutus, dance pants, etc.) are not permitted in youth classes, unless they are stated as part of the dress code. - Strings on ballet shoes are to be knotted and tucked into shoes, they are not to be tied in a bow or left long
- Ladies should NOT wear panties/underwear with their leotard/tights.
Purchase of Dance Apparel and Shoes
The following is a list of dance shops which offer various types of required dance shoes. This list is meant for your convenience.
Student are not required to purchase from one of the dance shops listed below. In addition, we remind all students that they, rather than dance shops, are responsible for purchasing attire and shoes that meet our dress code. It is highly suggested that shoes are checked for proper fitting by your instructor before attaching elastics, cutting draw strings, etc. Once you have worn them, or attached straps, they are generally not accepted for returns or exchanges.
